Kermit the Frog in the Louisiana Swamps (racist little frog!)
More Family Guy and the many different appearances of various Sesame Street characters coming right up! I have been surfing the web far and wide to find and locate different clips from the show that make fun of characters from PBS’s Sesame Street. One clip that I have not been able to find, however, is the one of Meg learning bird calls in New York while Chris is becoming a famous painter known as Cristobel. If any of you readers knows where I can find that clip so that I can reference it in another entry, please hit me up with a comment and the link, and you will see a post on that one go up rather quickly.
Fortunately, the show does tend to poke fun at Kermit the Frog quite often, more often than you would ever even think. So this entry and the next few are dedicated to that low talking, green little frog that we all grew up loving on Sesame Street. One that makes for such an easy target for Seth McFarlane, that is should be no wonder why they talk smack about the frog on so many different occasions. Another thing to note here is that after searching far and wide to find Family Guy clips that do reference characters from Sesame Street, I have found that they often love to poke fun at this show, more so than other shows, for whatever reasons. Perhaps McFarlane was forced to watch it as a kid and hated it? Who knows?
The clip that I found for you (imbedded below) I can, for a change, actually chronologically document. This was from the very first episode of season five of Family Guy. Peter is sitting in the kitchen talking to Louis about different places and people. He gets upset about people wronging other people and not standing up for justice. This is where the flashback kicks in. Remember that we have been talking about how they intermingle flashbacks sporadically throughout the show? Well many times they will use the characters from Sesame Street as fodder.
In the clip below, a racist, southern Kermit the Frog is depicted. Sitting on a rock and playing on a banjo when a black guy comes rowing up in a canoe. When he asks Kermit if he is headed in the right direction to town, the frog cocks a shotgun and responds, “Yeah, it’s back the way you came!”
