Family Guy VS. The Simpsons: Five Reasons Why It’s Better!

One of the longest running comedy shows in the history of television, The Simpsons, is being shot down with an earlier running time because of the successes—albeit newly founded—of MacFarlane’s Family Guy and now, American Dad as well. The Simpsons used to be one of the highest rated shows on Fox—for Sunday primetime of course. That was until the show Family Guy rolled around and started taking from its loyal viewer ship. So now, Fox has dubbed the quad of shows aired every Sunday starting at 6 pm, as ‘Animation Domination.’ It features a new episode of The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy and American Dad; and MacFarlane owns two out of four of the most viewed shows on the network, amazing!

So one could easily wonder who would win in a showdown between Family Guy versus the Simpsons. I hate to say it, but the Simpsons get screwed this time around. Unlike the last animation war that they won against a show created by their creator, Futurama, which featured a man who gets frozen and awakes in the future with the company of a quirky robot and a few other notable characters. But, even as Simpsons has shaken off Futurama, don’t expect them to win the war against Family Guy, or American Dad. In fact, Simpsons is least ranked amongst all three, coming in last place behind the third place of King of the Hill.

When you compare plots, there is no question as to why Family Guy ranks at the top of the list. It’s more in your face. It’s more blatant. It offers offensive humor. Heck, the show was even canned once before because of viewer complains and FCC fines. Family Guy wins because they take comedy over the top, with no morals in sight. The only thing in sight actually, is that they make you laugh out of shock, and drop dead comedic antics that keep the pot boiling over well into the night and offer a high replay value.

For your enjoyment, and to add some flare to this post, I have imbedded a funny clip that I found on Youtube.com below. It depicts a fake video game that pits Homer Simpson against Peter Griffin to see who would win in a fighter video game. Funny clip that must have taken some dude quite a while to make in a video editor. I feel it adequately serves it purpose for this post…don’t you think? The clip is below, enjoy!
