Does Family Guy Steal from the Simpsons? (Everybody Does!)

The answer to the question that is being stated above is simply put: hell yes! But then again, what show has not borrowed, or could not possible, even if accidentally, take a little bit here and there from one of the longest running shows in the history of TV? The Simpsons are not alone or without faults either. They are well known for taking bits and pieces of their own episodes from other classic TV shows and movies. Hey, it’s like images online, they are meant to be share…right?

And yes, South Park even made an episode a few seasons back called ‘Simpsons Did Already Did It’ where Butters is unable to think a plan to ruin the town of South Park that has not already been thought up and contrived by one Bart Simpson. He goes mildly crazy towards the end and all of the characters of the show begin to look more like the characters from the Simpsons, and the town turns into Springfield (in his mind).

The Simpsons Steals from Other Shows
Just in case that you were wondering, the Simpsons actually steal from other shows as well. For example, Twilight Zone is a popular show that they have “borrowed” ideas from. Other shows included TV’s Batman, Charles in Charge, and you name it. After a few hundred episodes, you have to borrow ideas here and there or you will never be able to keep up with pace of a show, and the weight of a pressing and stressful production schedule sitting on your shoulders. In short: all shows borrow from each other here and there, and as long as they don’t entirely rip each other off—who cares!

It took me quite some time to locate this video! But finally, I was able to find a person who took the time to make this comparison of instances of Family Guy borrowing from the Simpsons. The person who made this really went all out. This clip (below) will first show the episode and cut from the Simpsons that Family Guy allegedly takes from. Then they will counter that with the corresponding ripped off clip in Family Guy. A fun look at how all shows of this nature indeed have much in common in the realm of overusing and recycling ideas that have already been done before!
