Family Guy’s Classical “420” Episode Goes up in Smoke

If you remembered to tune into to Fox for the weekly ‘Animation Domination’ Sunday, then you would have more than likely caught the newest episode of Family Guy, “420.” What will more than likely be one of the final episodes of season seven, this twelfth episode was funny, but also was kind of a letdown at the same time people! This episode offered some classic laughs, but all around seemed like a rushed episode that was merely created to capitalize on the stoner holiday that falls annually on April 20th – fondly called 420 by all stoners—hence the name of this episode.

Another Episode Featuring Brian and Stewie
It seems that whenever they really run out of ideas for new episodes on Family Guy, they always play back to the onscreen chemistry of Stewie and Brian the dog. However this time around it seemed like it was farce. There were not many jokes. There were not the always hilarious back and forth banter of the duo. This episode just didn’t make me laugh that much. Rather, it seemed like a cheap cop out to forge it under the guises of legalization of pot, using classic characters that had nothing much to say.

Way Too Much Limelight for Weed
All this limelight for weed, and the show could not decide for or against it. Just make up your mind. It seemed like Fox had a hand in this episode. Meaning, that MacFarlane probably was pro pot and Fox said, “Hey, tone this down a bit and at least show both sides of the story or we won’t air this episode.” To that I say, rubbish. Freedom of speech, and you have already canceled the show once…look where that got you to!
